Recipe for American Fluffy Pancakes



You are going to need:

1 cup plain flour

1 tsp baking powder

½ tsp salt

2 tbsp caster sugar

½ cup milk

1 egg, lightly beaten

2 tbsp melted butter, plus extra for cooking


Directions:

1. Pour the flour, baking powder, sugar and salt into a large bowl. In a separate bowl, mix the milk and egg, then add the melted butter.

2. Pour the liquid mixture into the flour mixture.

3. With a fork, beat until you have a smooth batter. Any lumps will disappear with a little mixing. Let the batter sit for 10 minutes.

4. Heat a frying pan over a low to medium heat and add a little bit of butter to grease it.

5. When the butter melts, add a ladle of batter. It should be pretty thick. Wait until the top of the pancake begins to bubble, then turn it over and cook until both sides are golden brown.

6. Repeat until you finish the batter.
